Arduino launches the new UNO R4 with WiFi connectivity, an ARM Cortex M4 and 16 times more RAM



Arduino has released –after an announcement a few months ago— UNO R4a new version of its flagship development board that promises to take prototyping capabilities to a new level, offering a wide range of features and functionality that will surely Arduino enthusiasts and general electronics hobbyists will fall in love.

One of the most outstanding features of the UNO R4 is its built-in WiFi connectivity that will allow users to connect and control the development board wirelesslywhich offers greater flexibility and convenience in IoT and home automation projects, while the CAN Bus connectivity will allow us to communicate with other microcontrollers with only two cables in a bus with a configurable topology like the one used in the automotive industry.

The UNO R4 features an ARM Cortex M4 processor, which means a significant increase in performance and computing power compared to previous versions, while the increase in RAM on this board – the UNO R4 arrives with 16 times more RAM than its predecessor – we will be able to face much more ambitious projects than up to now.

Last but not least, in the UNO R4 we find an HID device, a 12×8 LED matrix, and a USB-C connectora set of additional features that, although they are not the first thing we would look at when buying a board of this type, further expand the possibilities of interaction and data visualization in all kinds of projects, especially considering that in the case of the Arduino UNO R3, we still had to make use of unusual USB-B cables, as well as purchase additional hardware for some things.
