MADRID Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Arab countries together with the guarantors of the Astana peace process for Syria — Russia, Turkey and Iran — have called this Saturday in unison for the call for a negotiated political solution to put an end to the resurgence of hostilities that began at the end last month in the Syrian Arab Republic, scene of an offensive by opposition rebels and jihadists that has brought this alliance to the gates of Damascus.

This violence “constitutes a dangerous event for the country’s security and regional and international security,” the countries participating in the international forum held this Saturday in Doha, the capital of Qatar, scene of intense diplomatic talks, have announced.

In this sense, the signatories, which also include Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, call on all parties to “seek a political solution to the Syrian crisis that leads to the end of military operations and the protection of civilians in the repercussions of this crisis”.

They also call for a joint international effort “to increase humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and ensure their sustainable and unhindered access to all affected areas to avoid bloodshed.”

After reiterating the importance of preserving “the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria” to “protect the country from chaos and terrorism”, the countries end by committing to maintain contacts to “find a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis,” according to the final declaration of the meeting, published by the Qatari Foreign Ministry.
