May 31. (Portaltic/EP) –
Manzana plans to renew its virtual assistant, Siri, with more advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the aim of offering users the ability to voice control the functions integrated within the applications themselves.
The company will present its innovations powered by this technology at the annual developers event WWDC 2024, which will hold its inaugural conference on June 10 at 7 p.m. (mainland Spain).
Some of these new capabilities will be aimed at Siri, which in the upcoming iOS 18 update can be used to summarize news articles, transcribe voice memos, and improve app suggestions.
This was announced a few days ago by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who has now commented that the technology manufacturer plans to redesign the assistant, so that it can also be used to control features built into apps installed on the phone.
People related to the company have shared now This capability has required a revamp of the software on which Siri is based using large language models (LLM).
Gurman recalled that, currently, Siri is limited to the most generic commands, such as playing song lists, searching for information or controlling smart appliances. Likewise, he has commented that the assistant already has a functionality called Shortcutswhich allows you to create shortcuts and more than 300 actions to use the applications.
In this way, the new system that Apple plans to introduce in the assistant “will go further” than this feature and will use AI to analyze user actions with the ‘apps’ and automatically enable certain functions controlled by Siri.
Initially the next version of Siri will be able to support a single command for each action, although Apple hopes to allow users to chain together different requests so that they can, for example, ask you to summarize a recorded meeting and then send it to someone else with a single request.
These new AI capabilities will first reach the services developed by the firm, which will support hundreds of different commands, according to the Bloomberg analyst, who has also indicated that this will not happen see you next year.
