Apple recently added ads on the App Store to maximize its profitsand among these advertisements were advertisements for gambling applications, something that could be a serious problem for all those users who are battling a gambling problem.
Under this pretext, users have been lobbying Apple to get these ads removed altogetherand it seems that they have been partially successful, because as we read in GSMArenaApple has paused ads for gambling apps on the App Store.
It’s unknown how long this pause, which doesn’t sound particularly permanent, will last, and we also don’t know if Apple will eventually allow gambling app ads in its rules, which would be a losing battle for the rest of users, and a hard problem to bear on the part of users who, as we mentioned, are suffering from gambling.
Hopefully Apple will carefully review who is selling the ad space, and, hopefully, cancel some of the contracts related to this type of applications, since not only users with this type of problem are affected, but also those who may be susceptible to it, such as children.
