Apex Storage presents a card to install 21 M.2 SSD drives. with up to 336TB capacity

Apex Storage, a new company in the world of storage, has announced a new card designed for the installation of a huge number of M.2 SSD drives., which will allow us to have up to 336TB capacity as future 16TB drives hit the market

At the moment, the Apex X21 supports up to 168TB with 8TB NVMe M.2 SSD and can provide speeds up to 30.5GB/s. Obviously, it is not a card designed for Gaming equipment, but is aimed at workstations and applications such as deep learning.

The Apex X21 has 100 PCI Express lanes to distribute among all the units, something that is achieved through a PCI Express switch that probably resides under the card’s passive heatsink – and still requires sufficient airflow around it.

Despite dealing with storage, the card has two 6-pin PEG connectors for a total of 225W of power for these units, Although they are efficient and consume little, by having 21 of them on a single card –or two, since it is a double PCB card– consumption scales very quickly.
