Thailand has announced its success as host of the Women and the Economy Forum (WEF) APEC and is committed to promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality with other APEC member economies.

Deputy Secretary-General to the Acting Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson, Anucha Burapachaisri, recently revealed Thailand’s achievements in hosting the APEC Women and the Economy Forum (WEF) on 7 September 2022 at Icon Siam in Bangkok .

During the forum, Thailand and other APEC economies agreed to promote networking for inclusive women’s empowerment, affirming that a supportive and accommodating environment for women to thrive is important to ensure equitable and sustainable economic growth in the world. region.

The meeting also underlined the need to prevent and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination against women and girls, as well as to empower and advance women and gender equality in the Asia- Pacific in order to achieve an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community by 2040, for the prosperity of all people and future generations.

The government spokesperson added that as the host of APEC 2022, Thailand envisions a sustainable and resilient economy and society by adopting the biocircular-green (BCG) economy model. This model integrates and synergizes three economic methods in which technology and innovation are used to produce value, minimize waste and promote sustainable business.
