Another six ships loaded with cereals depart from Ukrainian ports

Aug. 28 () –

Another six ships with grain have left this Sunday from Ukrainian ports under the agreement signed at the end of July between kyiv and Moscow to allow the export of Ukrainian grain, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry.

According to the latest balance, a total of 46 ships — with more than a million tons of grain — have already left the Ukrainian ports with grain for the Joint Coordination Center, where joint inspections are carried out at the entrances and exits in order to guarantee the safety of the routes.

The ships, which cross the Black Sea towards the Bosphorus Strait, are examined before entering Ukraine to ensure that they do not carry weapons or combat material. The delivery of millions of tons of cereals, on which developing countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East depend to fill their pantries, had been suspended since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

The UN, which together with Turkey has mediated this agreement between Ukraine and Russia, has defended the agreement as a key tool to alleviate food shortages globally and hopes to take advantage of its symbolism so that Russians and Ukrainians can sit down table in the future to discuss other matters.
