Annual seminar on national accounts for Latin America and the Caribbean, 2022: Agenda for changes in the measurements of economic statistics and emerging issues in the face of new challenges

The planned agenda for this seminar addresses the updating of the “Manual of the System of National Accounts, SCN-2025” and the future of economic statistics in the face of these new challenges discussed within the Group of Experts on National Accounts (AEG). In this sense, issues of the current reality are raised, of the changing dynamics that have been generated in the measurement processes, of the challenges we face to approach the new statistics and sources of information, as well as of the testing mechanisms. and experimentation that are being proposed to the countries.

The regional overview of short-term statistics in this area, the novelties in these measurements and good practices implemented in our countries to expand the coverage of the quarterly accounts in coherence with the SNA will be addressed. A space has been designated to learn about regional experiences in the new measurement challenges associated with emerging issues, the conduct of economic censuses and the use and management of administrative records in the generation of national accounts statistics.

Finally, the activities of the working groups in the framework of the Statistical Conference of the Americas (CEA), the status of the 2021 cycle of the International Comparison Program (PCI) and the projects developed within the Division will be reviewed. of Statistics of ECLAC.
