Android Auto and Android Automotive are two very particular systems, given that when used in a vehicle, not all types of applications are available.
This is basically for security reasons, because certain categories of applications that you can find on your mobile are not available either for Android Auto or for Android Automotive.
One of them, and highly demanded by the user community, are the weather applicationswhich finally they will start to be available in both systems.
Currently, the applications that Android Auto accepts are those in the media, messaging, navigation, points of interest and Internet of Things categories. Automotive has the same categories but there is no messaging and it adds video, games and browsers.
Obviously, each of these categories of applications are only available in certain cases, such as with the vehicle parked.
At the last developer conference, Google announced that it would open a new weather category in Android Auto, and it just entered beta phase.
Soon, you’ll be able to use specific weather apps when you’re on Android Auto that will not only help you with weather issues, but can also provide navigation capabilities.
Although this category for Android Auto is currently in beta phase, some are already starting to be seen in the application store, so you should be attentive.
Without a doubt, Android Auto embracing a new category is always positive for users because they will have a new set of applications to download and install.
