A Kenyan court has sentenced Victor Odede Bwire to 30 years in prison, accused of conspiring to attack the Kenyatta Convention Center in Nairobi in 2019.
Bwire, a driver by profession, shared essential data to carry out a possible attack through Facebook with “Somali terrorists”, in particular about the security device in the center, according to the court.
The defendant had previously confessed to the conspiracy charges of which he had been accused, according to the court document collected by the Kenyan newspaper ‘The Nation’.
The text does not specifically mention “terrorists” but the jihadist organization Al Shabaab, which operates in Somalia, is infamous in Kenya for the multiple attacks committed there, especially the assault on the University of Garissa in 2015, which ended with nearly 150 dead.
Al Shabaab was also responsible for the 2013 attack on the Westgate shopping center, which left nearly 70 people dead.
