A father in Shenzhen, China, discovered that his 11-year-old son ignored bedtime, playing video games on his cell phone at 1:30 AM. When he caught him in the act, he decided to punish him in a very particular and controversial way. Specifically, he allowed him to play as long as he wanted on one condition: that he couldn’t sleep.

Father punishes his 11-year-old son and forces him to play video games for 17 hours without sleep
According to reports, the infant enjoyed his extended play session at first. However, after playing 12 hours straight without a break, he couldn’t help but fall asleep. At that time, his father, who is known only as Mr. Huang, woke him up to continue.
After 17 hours of non-stop play, the 11-year-old boy apologized and tearfully begged his father to stop the punishment. The man accepted the apology, but agreed to a new pact and forced his son to write a note where he had to explain what happened. “My dad caught me disobeying him with my cell phone, so he punished me. Not only did he let me play more, now I have to play until I vomit (…) I promise I have to go to bed before 11:00 PM ”, reads the letter.
The father of the family recorded his punishment and shared it on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. In the video, he explains that he resorted to punishment as a last resort and urged others not to follow in his footsteps.
As expected, this punishment caused a heated debate on social networks. Although some people justify the father and applaud his methods, others criticized him and accused him of mistreating his son.
