An anti-terrorist operation in Jordan ends three dead, including one involved in the murder of an officer

July 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least three individuals accused of terrorism, including one implicated in the shooting death of a senior official late last year, have been killed during an operation by Jordanian security forces near the country’s southeastern border with Saudi Arabia.

The Jordanian Public Security Directorate, in its official statement, explains that two of those killed had escaped from jail a few days ago and that the third deceased was one of the main people involved in the murder of Brigadier General Abdulrazaq Dalabé, according to the note collected by the official Jordanian news agency Petra.

The soldier was killed in December 2022 by a shot to the head in the Jordanian governorate of Maan, where he served as ‘number two’ of the security forces, during an operation to disperse and prevent “acts of sabotage” in the area Al Huseiniya, located in this region.

The main suspect in his murder was already killed at the end of the year by the Jordanian security forces in an operation that left three police officers dead and nine suspects arrested, belonging to the “extremist Takfiri (radical Islamic) ideology”, without determine if they were part of a specific extremist group.

Al Huseiniya was at that time one of the epicenters of strong protests against the Jordanian government due to the increase in fuel prices.
