An AI-generated song sets off major drama for Google

As expected, current laws are not prepared to regulate content generated by artificial intelligenceand this is something that we can clearly see in The VergeWell, a youtuber under the name of ghostwriter977 has uploaded a song generated entirely by artificial intelligence that Drake and The Weeknd didn’t like at all.

The reason? The song sounds exactly like it was recorded by these two artists, but it is not really made by them. This means that, as much as they wanted to, neither Drake nor The Weeknd can claim the song in which his voice appears because they simply did not make it, so they have no rights to it.

Likewise, a recent ruling made it clear that content generated by artificial intelligence could not be subject to protections by copyright laws, so this content is currently in a limbo that is extremely difficult to regulate.

For now, YouTube has sided with the artists due to the fact that at the beginning of the song there is a small segment -also called sample-that seems to belong to another Drake songthis being the only reason why some videos with the song could be removed from YouTube. However, if that part were removed, the song would be fully legal.
