“We are going to speak with the Secretary of the Treasury, with the director of the SAT and, above all, the Secretary of Foreign Relations,” López Obrador declared in the morning conference.
He also pointed out that work will continue so that the countrymen who live in the United States do not pay so many commissions for sending remittances. “That’s where we are,” he said, pointing out that the Welfare finance company is already distributing cards for that purpose.
In the period January-May, 24,666.7 million dollars of remittances arrived in Mexico, 2,250 million dollars more than what the country received in the same period last year, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
López Obrador pointed out that Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcenas has a plan to strengthen the 53 consulates in the United States.
