AMD’s GPUOpen initiative has received the source code for the new version AMD FidelityFX SDK v1.1, including inside the update to AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 or FSR 3.1 technology.
FSR 3.1 arrived in several games earlier this month, but now the source code has been released in open-source format to make it easier for developers to implement the technology. It’s an update to the FSR 3.0 version that already included intermediate frame generation alongside upscaling technology.
With FSR 3.1, Image generation is separated from FSR upscaling; Therefore, developers can operate independently without using upscaling, or using third-party upscalers such as NVIDIA DLSS or Intel XeSS while applying framerate generation.
FSR 2.2:
FSR 3.1:
Additionally, FSR 3.1 also includes improvements in rescaling and support for the Vulkan graphics API, allowing this technology to be used not only under DirectX.
With the arrival of the GPUOpen initiative, developers will be able to see how FSR 3.1 and AMD’s intermediate frame rate works and implement it in their games directly. Not to be forgotten, FSR 3.1 is compatible with graphics cards from AMD, NVIDIA, Intel, and even Qualcomm, covering a wider range of cards than proprietary solutions like DLSS.
