Like virtually all technology companies today, AMD is focused on the race for Artificial Intelligence. Both at the domestic level with its Ryzen AI and at the business level with the Radeon Instinct, the company is focusing its solutions to support this technology.
His latest acquisition follows this maxim, AMD has started the process to buy Silo AI, a company that owns the largest artificial intelligence laboratory in Europe. The transaction will be carried out in cash for an amount of around 665 million dollars, approximately 614 million euros at the current exchange rate.
Silo AI will continue to operate relatively independently under the leadership of its current CEO and co-founder Peter Sarlin. However, it will become part of the AMD Artificial Intelligence Group under the leadership of Vamsi Boppana, the company’s senior vice president.
Silo AI has already developed AI models and solutions for AMD platforms, so their integration into the company’s team should be quite fluid and serve to accelerate the implementation strategy of Artificial Intelligence solutions for business clients.
Silo AI’s workforce consists of approximately 300 AI scientists and engineers.
Both companies expect to close the purchase during the second half of 2024, which is already the year we are in.
