Ambassador Sulaiman Syarif inaugurates the Indonesia-Argentina Business Forum

At the Sheraton Convention Center in Buenos Aires, Ambassador Sulaiman Syarif led the opening of the Indonesia–Argentina Business Forum: Road to the INA-LAC Business Forum 2024. The event was attended by Argentine businessmen and business associations, who met to engage in conversations and share business experiences with Indonesia.

Also attending the event were Mr. Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, Director General of International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Indonesia, and Ms. Nidya Kartikasari, Director of Intra and Interregional Cooperation for America and Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

During his opening speech, the Ambassador highlighted the significant results of the Director General’s recent visit to Argentina, as well as the solid support received by Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay to begin negotiations on the trade agreement between Indonesia and MERCOSUR.

For his part, the Director General of International Trade Negotiations provided an update on Indonesia’s international trade policy and highlighted the benefits of trade agreements for entrepreneurs, focusing especially on the potential of the Indonesia-MERCOSUR agreement.

The World Water Forum prepares for its tenth edition in Bali

Director Nidya Kartikasari extended an invitation to Argentine businessmen to participate in the 6th INA-LAC Business Forum, scheduled to take place in Lima, Peru, from September 11 to 14, 2024.

The participation of numerous Indonesian companies from sectors such as food and beverages, furniture and home decoration, as well as automotive products, is expected at the INA-LAC 2024 Business Forum, and the active presence of Argentine companies is expected.

During the discussions, businessmen acknowledged that local tariffs and taxes still represented a considerable challenge and expressed hope that the trade agreement between Indonesia and MERCOSUR could be finalized in the near future.
