Amazon Prime signs Club Guadalajara to its streaming platform

The opening match of the alliance between Chivas del Guadalajara and Amazon will be on Saturday, August 31, when Guadalajara faces FC Juárez at the Akron Stadium, as part of matchday 6 of the 2024 Apertura Tournament.

The company explained that the addition of the Liga MX team will not have an extra cost, so the subscription price of 99 pesos will remain the same. Amazon also has an alliance with Fox Sports and ViX allowing its customers to access the entire Liga MX but for this they must pay an extra subscription fee.

Until a few days ago, the Guadalajara club had an exclusive contract with TelevisaUnivision to broadcast its matches through ViX, but now it will only be possible through Amazon Prime.

The company’s move seeks to strengthen its programmatic offering, especially in sports, to position itself as one of the main streaming companies in broadcasting sports. The company currently broadcasts Liga MX, NFL, NBA, Formula 1, UEFA Champions League, MLB and many other sports through channels such as FOX Sports, MAX, ViX Premium and DAZN.

In recent years, sports content has proven to be one of the greatest assets for users to decide to purchase a subscription to a video-on-demand platform.
