Amazon launches site to compete with Shein and Temu

What is Amazon Haul?

The beta version of Amazon Haul was launched this Wednesday in the United States and according to the company, this portal will offer fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics and other products for less than $20. Amazon noted that most items are priced under $10 and others are just a dollar.

“Finding great products at very low prices is important to customers and we continue to explore ways we can work with our selling partners to offer products at extremely low prices,” said Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Services at Amazon.

The company added that customers can enjoy more savings when they add more products in a single order, with a 5% discount on orders of $50 or more and a 10% discount on orders of $75 or more.

Is Amazon Haul cheaper than Shein or Temu?

The battle between the three platforms. In December 2023, Temu sued Shein in the US District of Columbia court, alleging that its competitor forced manufacturers to submit to unfair supply agreements that prevent it from working with Temu after its entry into the US market in 2022. .

In August of this year, it was Shein who sued Temu for alleged theft of corporate information and copying of designs.

Amazon’s intentions to confront e-commerce companies from China have been known since June 2024, when CNBC published a report with this information.

At that time it was noted that Haul sellers could test shipping items through small batch production, a model that Shein uses and that has been central to its sales strategy, as it manufactures its products on demand, which allows it to offer products at lower prices.

Temu and Shein have become strong e-commerce competitors to Amazon, a company that even opened an innovation center in Shenzhen, China and reduced fees for sellers who sell clothing for less than $20.

Some players, such as Mercado Libre, have also indicated that they are aware of this wave of Chinese e-commerce and are looking to continue making improvements to the service, but do not panic.

For now, Amazon Haul’s offer remains within the same parameters as Shein and Temu.

Is it available in Mexico?

So far, Amazon Haul only operates in the United States and the company has not given any clue as to whether it plans to extend this model to other regions in the short term.

“We’re just getting started with Amazon Haul and look forward to hearing what customers say as we continue to innovate and further improve the shopping experience.”
