The movement that you do not expect from Amazon and that could end up providing you with a cheap mobile rate plan.
We all know the enormous reach it has Amazon as the largest e-commerce company in the world, and which is also expanding into other market niches such as video games and streaming, but perhaps what you would never have imagined is that Amazon could provide you with mobile rates just like any other operator.
As reported from BloombergAmazon is holding conversations with the most important operators in the United States, to use their networks for the service of mobile rates.
As you can see, it is a movement only made for the United States market, but if it is a success, it cannot be ruled out that it will reach other markets such as Europe in the future.
As mentioned by the aforementioned source, this mobile plan service would be offered completely free for Prime subscribers or for a monthly fee of just $10 per month, and obviously paying the cost of the Prime subscription separately.
However, the report makes it clear that Amazon has yet to make a final decision on this, depending on how the negotiations with the operators come to fruition.
They all deny the conversations
Amazon, for the moment, denies any plan to offer these mobile plan services to its customers: “We are always exploring adding even more benefits for Prime members, but we have no plans to add wireless services at this time.”.
The main mobile operators involved in it also deny this hypothetical negotiation.
Both Verizon and T-Mobile they denied having maintained not even conversations with Amazon about it: “We are not in negotiations with Amazon regarding the resale of our country mobile network. Our company is always open to new and potential opportunities, but we have nothing to report at this time.”.
It should be noted that the Amazon Prime subscription in the United States costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month, higher than the €4.99 subscription that we have, for example, in our country.
