Alienware unveils 24.5-inch gaming monitor with 500Hz IPS panel

CES, like Las Vegas itself, is a place of exaggeration and hyperbole, with no room for the conventional or the bland. Few brands understand this as well as Alienware, Dell’s gaming subsidiary, which this year wanted to hang a medal with what it describes as the fastest Fast IPS monitor in the world. We are talking about the AW2524H, a spectacular PC screen that stands out for providing variable refresh rate at a maximum of 500 Hz.

Actually, Alienware’s words have a trick to them. Asus became the first company to announce a 500Hz monitor in May 2022, but its case uses a TN panel. There’s also the question of whether a record is considered valid based on the official announcement alone, since the ROG Swift 500 Hz hasn’t gone on sale yet. Be that as it may, Alienware wants to win this race with its new AW2524H, totally geared towards competitive gaming.

With a size of 24.5 inches and Full HD resolution, this monitor has a Fast IPS panel with a native refresh rate of 480 Hz that can be optionally increased to 500 Hz. It also has a very short response time, with a record G2G of only 0.5 ms, and DisplayHDR 400 certification. Likewise, and in the case of a next-generation G-Sync monitor, it supports Nvidia Reflex latency reduction technology.

Connectivity options are the usual, with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and the typical USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub for five devices. There are no built-in speakers, though it does have audio-in and audio-out jacks for using headphones, which can be hung on the side of the monitor using a hook. ad hoc.

Alienware hasn’t provided a price for its faster monitor, saying only that it will offer more details on it when it wants to go on sale. Supposedly it will arrive in the United States during the first quarter of this year.
