Alert in Brussels for an email written in Russian with several bomb threats in the subway

The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a subway bomb threat from the city. On Tuesday evening, the European Commission transferred the police who had received a email written in russian according to which an attack was going to be perpetrated in the community capital this Wednesday if the receiving organization did not change your policies.

The threat does not have much credibility due to the low level of precision with which it has been made. Nevertheless, the Belgian authorities have taken “very seriously” and the Crisis Management Center is already evaluating the situation. In addition, the railway police have intensified controls on the subway since last night with reinforcement patrolsaccording to the Belgian newspaper ‘Le Soir’.

“The Coordinating Body for Threat Analysis (OCAM) has described this threat as unlikely. At the moment, no additional measures are necessary. The National Crisis Management Center, in collaboration with all the security services, continues to closely monitor the situation,” the Crisis Center reported on Wednesday.

Le Soir has accessed the report from the security services of the European Commission and has reported that it specifies that “a man has contacted the European institution twice by email. The first shipment, on February 16, contained nothing alarming. second, sent on March 3, was clearly a threatening message.”

Said message, according to the report, threatened to do the following: “As long as the EU continues with its aggressive policyI would like to warn of the beginning of mass terrorist attacks in the territory of the EU”. In addition, it also attacks the LGTBI collective, other minorities and heads of State and Government, whom it threatens to “eliminate”.

This second email ends with an alert for this International Women’s Day: “On March 8, the Brussels metro will fly between Yser and Rogier“. Therefore, the OCAM maintains the threat at a medium level and the US embassy has launched a security alert so that citizens remain vigilant and avoid crowds.

“We took it very seriously, we did a sweep with police dogs capable of detecting explosives and came out a negative resultbut we remain very vigilant, all police services are on alert. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to identify the author or authors of this threat bomb attack,” the Belgian police said.
