Alec Baldwin returns to ‘SNL’ to parody Fox News host: Buzz

Surprise! Alec Baldwin returned to “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, but not as former President Donald Trump.

The former “30 Rock” star appeared on the “SNL” cold open as Fox News host Bret Baier, parodying his recent interview with Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris (played by Maya Rudolph).

“Good evening, I’m Bret Baier,” Baldwin said. “And to clear things up, yes, I look like someone turned into a businessman in ‘Minecraft’.”

Baldwin repeatedly interrupted Rudolph, who insisted like Harris that she was trying to tell him her plan if she wins the 2024 election.

“I’m trying to listen,” Baldwin said.

“Then stop talking,” Rudolph replied.

“I don’t know how,” he said.

Baldwin previously won an Emmy for playing Trump in multiple episodes of “SNL” between 2016 and 2020. Baldwin last made a cameo in November 2023 for a Sketch of the application to sleep peacefully with Timothée Chalamet; “SNL” cast member James Austin Johnson has taken on the role of Trump in 2021.

Other highlights from Saturday’s episode included a Uber game showto Gag of the Menéndez brothers on “Weekend Update”, musical guest Billie Eilish and a halloween cookies sketch with host Michael Keaton, who previously co-starred with Baldwin in the 1988 film “Beetlejuice.” Baldwin did not appear in the 2024 sequel, “Beetlejuice” Beetlejuice, and later appears in the controversial movie “Rust” which was postponed due to the fatal on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
