Aug. 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Armed militiamen linked to the terrorist group Al Shabaab stormed a central hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Friday after several explosions occurred in the area.
The terrorists have broken into the Hayat hotel and, according to a police spokesman quoted by the SONNA agency, the security forces have cordoned off the area and have launched an operation to try to repel the attack.
Al Shabaab has claimed the facts with a message in which he has assured that he has taken control of the hotel and is shooting at the officials who are there, according to the Garowe Online agency.
The attack is unprecedented in recent months and would be the first of this magnitude launched by Al Shabaab in the capital since Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took office in early June.
