March 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of Syria, Bashar al Assad, transferred this Wednesday to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, Damascus’s support for Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine where, according to him, the Russian Armed Forces are facing “new and old Nazis” of Europe.

“I want to take advantage, since this is my first visit (to Russia) since the start of the special operation in Ukraine, and repeat the Syrian position in support of this operation against the new and old Nazis,” al-Assad asserted.

In the words of the Syrian president, talking about Nazis in Ukraine is justified in that “the West accepted the old Nazis in their own land” in the middle of the last century, and now “supports them again” in the framework of the war, collects TASS.

Thus, Al Assad has clarified that Damascus’s support for Moscow is not given only because of the “friendship” between the two countries, but because of an urgent need for “stabilization” worldwide. “Otherwise, (the world) will be close to a great collapse,” he stressed.

In the field of bilateral cooperation, the Syrian head of state has emphasized that, despite being immersed in a war in Ukraine, the support of Moscow and Putin for Damascus has not changed in the last year.

Al Assad’s trip to Moscow coincides with the twelfth anniversary of the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, unleashed as a result of the repression of the pro-democratic mobilizations registered in 2011 in line with the ‘Arab Spring’.

In fact, thousands of people took to the streets of various cities in the country this Wednesday to commemorate the date, expressing their support for the main demands of the 2011 revolution and taking the opportunity to demand the resignation of the head of state.
