The Spanish telecommunications company Aire Networks has acquired a 1,400 square meter piece of land through its Portuguese subsidiary Ar Telecom on the outskirts of Lisbon to build a new data processing center.
The company’s objective is for it to start operating at the end of the year and will provide services to both Portuguese and Spanish companies with a similar size to those it has built in Spain, according to company sources have transferred to Europa Press.
This summer, Ardian acquired a majority shareholding package from Magnum and reinforced its commitment to grow the wholesale operator of data centers, fiber optics and technology services internationally.
The company anticipates that the new data center will be operational by the end of the year and the surface may be expanded to more than double its initial capacity to respond to demand.
Aire is also expanding its data centers in Spain with the construction of two facilities in Malaga and Talavera de la Reina, with a coordinated investment of over 3.5 million euros.
The company is committed to local services, focused on rural areas or medium-sized cities, in order to be active in areas where the large companies in the sector have not begun to invest until much later.
