Afghanistan rises to more than 180 deaths from floods in the last month

Aug. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

More than 180 people have died as a result of the floods recorded in the last month in different parts of Afghanistan, according to a balance of victims released this Thursday by the Taliban regime.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management, Naseem Haqqani, has stated that the authorities have been in contact with victims and local authorities to try to distribute aid. Authorities estimate that more than 3,000 homes have been destroyed, according to Tolo News.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned on Wednesday that more than 250 people have died in flooding in Afghanistan so far this year, with 118 killed in August alone. The global data already exceeds the figures for all of 2021 by 75 percent.
