Adobe redoubles its commitment to AI and announces that Firefly will also work with audio and video: this will be your “creative co-pilot”

The race to lead in the field of generative AI is on, and Adobe doesn’t want to be left behind. The American software giant last month introduced Adobe Firefly, a image generator in the style of DALL·E or Midjourney that allows you to set certain parameters through intuitive controls instead of adding them to the prompt.

The field of action of this first model, which can be tested from a web page, is limited to the creation of images and text effects, but Adobe has announced that it will integrate it into something it calls “creative co-pilot”. As part of this evolution it will also reach video, audio, animation and graphic design of animated elements.

Adobe Firefly will embrace video editing

The company’s move makes sense since solutions related to video editing are an elemental part of its product catalog. In this way, later this year we will see many functions powered by artificial intelligence beyond Photoshop and Illustrator, that is, to applications like Premiere Pro and After Effects.

As we can see in the video above, Firefly as a creative co-pilot promises to substantially change the dynamics of video editing and post-production. Instead of manually changing certain settings to change the time of day in a video clip in Premiere, we could ask for it in natural language thanks to Firefly technology.

These features can also be very interesting from the point of view of the knowledge needed to do certain jobs with Adobe tools. Although we will have to wait several months To see what’s new officially, let’s see what the company has in mind and plans to roll out to strengthen its suite of products.

• Color text enhancement: Change the color schemes of video clips, for example, the time of the road or the seasons of the year.
• Advanced Music and Sound Effects: Create royalty-free music and sounds from text.
• Fonts, Text Effects, Graphics, and Logos: Generate captions, logos, and title cards from text.
• Script and B-roll features: AI analysis of text to create storyboards and previews automatically.

Adobe claims that it has trained Firefly on openly licensed content, content from public domain whose copyrights have already expired and with content from Adobe Stock. Regarding the latter, he assures that he is working on a compensation model for creators. As we say, we have to wait to see these improvements in action.
