June 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The American actor Michael Douglas affirmed this Sunday during his visit to Israel that the protesters at American universities opposed to the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip are “brainwashed.”
Douglas has met with the Israeli president, Isaac Herzog, to whom he has conveyed his “enormous shock” at the pro-Palestinian protests on the campus. “He is brainwashed (…) because when you try to talk to many of them they are not educated, they don’t know anything,” he stated, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
“We have met with relatives of the hostages (…). We have spent the day in the south, in the area near Beeri and the Nova exhibition,” Douglas explained to Herzog in reference to his visit to the area near the Gaza Strip attacked on October 7 by Palestinian militias.
“This is a very difficult time. You can feel the deep shock of this entire experience. We are happy to be here to support Israel and share with you that the United States is your ally, as our president has said. I hope that the latest negotiations achieve and that the hostages return soon,” he added.
Herzog has given Douglas a yellow pin symbol of the hostages and a badge with the inscription “Our heart is captive in Gaza.” Douglas is the son of actor Kirk Douglas, who was Jewish.
