We don’t know how many records are left to break until gaming monitor refresh rates stagnate as happened with the almost eternal 60 Hz that followed the introduction of consumer LCD screens, but everything points to the fact that this race has no end in sight. Good proof of this can be found at IFA, where Acer has announced its latest gaming screens. A range of monitors that stands out for reaching 600 Hz.

Part of the new Nitro UltraSpeed range, the Nitro XV240 F6 is a 24-inch monitor featuring an extraordinarily fast Full HD TN panel, with a 1ms GTG response time and the ability to reach 600Hz refresh rate in conjunction with its DisplayPort 1.4 input. When used with either of its two HDMI ports, the maximum refresh rate is 240Hz.

In addition to being unusually fast, the Nitro XV240 F6 has a brightness of 400 nits (quite average, in line with other TNs) and is certified for VESA DisplayHDR and AMD FreeSync Premium.

The Nitro XV270 F5, on the other hand, is a slightly more affordable option, but is still outrageously fast and suitable for the most competitive FPS and MOBA players. This monitor has a 27-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution and 520 Hz. The GTG response time is 0.5 ms.

Unlike the Nitro XV240 F6, the Nitro XV270 F5 is HDR10 certified (it has a maximum brightness of 400 nits). Another distinguishing feature is the detail that in addition to the HDMI (2) and DisplayPort (2) connectors, this monitor has a USB port hub.

According to Acer, the Nitro XV240 F6 will be available in Spain from the first quarter of 2025 for 899 euros, while the Nitro XV270U F5 will arrive around the same time with a RRP of 799 euros.

And also, new 27-inch Predators

On the other hand, Acer has also announced two new members of the Predator family. Both are high-performance, and one of them has the honor of being the first G-Sync designed to work with a scaler from MediaTek instead of the classic FPGA module from Nvidia, which in theory should reduce its price.

The Predator XB273U F5 is a 27-inch monitor with a 2560×1440 IPS panel at 360 Hz. Certified with the G-SYNC Pulsar seal, it should provide more detailed moving images, as well as a 1 ms response time and a maximum brightness of 550 nits (500 nits native).

The list of connectors includes two HDMI 2.1 and a DisplayPort 1.4, complemented by the typical audio jacks for the integrated speakers.

The Predator XB273K V5 is a 27-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) monitor with 160Hz, although it also has the option to reduce its resolution to Full HD to enjoy a maximum of 320Hz using FreeSync Premium. Its brightness is 400 nits, with DisplayHDR 400 certification, and the response time is 0.5 ms GTG.

The ports are exactly the same as on the XB273U F5.

Acer has only provided pricing for the Predator XB273K V5, which will go on sale in Q4 2024 for €699.
