Jul 31. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Turkish authorities confirmed on Wednesday that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will travel to Ankara on August 14 to hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
This was confirmed by the spokesman for the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, on his official profile on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, where he added that the following day, August 15, Abbas will address Parliament.
The Palestinian leader’s visit to Turkey will take place amid the Israeli army’s military offensive in Gaza – which has already left more than 39,400 dead – launched in response to the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7.
Abbas’s announcement of his trip comes on a day marked by the death of Hamas leader Issamil Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in an attack attributed to Israel, which has not yet commented on the matter.
