“I was extremely shocked seeing the baby looking at me sitting in a drawer. “He was staring at me and rocking back and forth,” she said.

“I looked at her mother and asked, ‘Is that where you have her?’ The mother responded: ‘Yes, in the drawer.’ I was shocked that she showed no emotion and that the situation left her impassive,” he added.

That social worker revealed that the woman confessed that no one else had seen the girl: “(The situation) became a overwhelming horror being, probably, the only other face that (the girl) had seen apart from her mother’s,” he recalled.

The baby was born in the bathtub of the house in the English county of Cheshire in March 2020 although his birth was kept secret and was never registered.

The mother, whose identity cannot be revealed for legal reasons, told police that she had kept a relationship with the girl’s father and did not want him to know that she was pregnant. Later he put the baby in the box as a bed and, from time to time, he came over to feed her cereal dissolved in milk using a syringe and change her diaper.

Prosecutor Rachel Worthington indicated that “this girl has never had a birthday gift, a Christmas gift or recognizes anything these days. She has not had any interaction with her siblings. She had not been exposed to sunlight or fresh air and “didn’t respond to her own name when they found her.”
