A woman kept a lottery ticket in her wallet and forgot about it; had won US$ 1 million

() – An Illinois woman won $1 million with a lottery ticket she had forgotten.

In October, during a visit to the Jewel-Osco supermarket in Elmhurst, he made a last-minute decision to buy a lottery ticket for the Lucky Day Lotto, a daily drawing game in Illinois. The ticket was scheduled for an evening drawing on October 20.

His ticket purchase was not only unplanned, but ultimately forgotten, he said in an Illinois Lottery news release, requesting anonymity.

“When I was going to visit my aunt, I made a quick stop at Jewel to buy some things and before leaving, I bought a Lucky Day Lotto ticket,” he said. “I actually put the ticket in my wallet and completely forgot about it.”

On October 20, the game’s announcers revealed the five winning numbers: 2-3-24-25-28. The woman’s ticket got all five right, but she didn’t know it at the time.

“A couple of days after the drawing, I saw the ticket in my wallet and opened my lottery app to scan it and check if I had won. “I immediately saw “US$1,000,000” on the screen and I was in total shock,” he commented. “I scanned the ticket one more time to verify it and when “US$1,000,000” came back up, I instantly started crying.”

The woman said the profits will allow her to travel more.

“What excites me most is being able to afford to travel every year to my favorite place in the world: Ireland,” said the winner. “The scenery is stunning and I am delighted to be able to enjoy these trips every year.”

According to Lottery USA, the odds of winning the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot are 1 in 1.22 million.

The lucky winner is the ninth Illinois Lottery player this year to win $1 million or more with Lucky Day Lotto.
