The rescue teams of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations found this Saturday the lifeless body of a miner who was trapped this Friday in the rubble of the Tashtagolskaya mine, in the Siberian Kuzbass basin, whose roof collapsed as a result of a magnitude 5.4 earthquake.
The rescuers found the man after getting rid of about ten cubic meters of rock thanks to the installation of a pneumatic jack that allowed them to lift the slabs, according to a Ministry report collected by the Interfax agency.
A team of investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee has taken over the case and is already working to elucidate the causes and circumstances of the Tashtagolskaya incident, a mine that supplies raw materials to the Evraz ZSMK plant, which is part of the Evraz group.
The company’s press service informed the aforementioned media the day before that, at the time of the collapse, which occurred at 4:45 a.m. (local time), there were 183 miners in the mine, of which 182 managed to come to the surface. .
It was previously established that on the night of November 16, the roof of the Tashtagolskaya mine of JSC Evraz ZSMK in the Tashtagol municipal district collapsed during ore extraction.
