The huge yellowish mass in the centre of the photograph, which looks like a vaporous curtain or a dusty trail, is exactly that: a gigantic cloud of dust moving out to sea from the Sahara Desert in Africa, driven through the air by the wind. The photo was taken from space by the Suomi NPP satellite on 24 August 2024. The dust plume appears to be flying over the Atlantic Ocean. This path is common for masses of Saharan dust for a few months of the year and can cover thousands of kilometres, even reaching America. (Source: NCYT by Amazings)
