MADRID Jan. 6 () –
The French authorities announced this Sunday that they have arrested a third Algerian ‘influencer’, identified as Doualemn, in the southern city of Montpellier, for allegedly inciting his community through the social network TikTok to commit attacks.
“Thank you to the state services, the magistrates and the law enforcement forces who made it possible to locate and arrest this individual this afternoon. Don’t let anything happen,” said the French Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau, through his profile on social network
The day before, the mayor of Montpellier, Michael Delafosse, assured that “there was no doubt” that one of the ‘influencer’ videos violated article 40 of the Penal Code for inciting hatred. The prefect of Hérault also announced legal actions at the criminal and administrative level.
“Kill him, let him suffer,” said Doualemn in reference to a protester against the Algerian regime, led by Abdelmayid Tebune. During the day on Friday, the French authorities arrested Youcef, alias ‘Zazou Youssef’, who had also allegedly incited attacks against Algerian opponents, and Imad Tintin, who had shown his support for him.
These cases may open a new diplomatic front with Algeria, with whom France has already distanced itself precisely because of another arrest, that of the French Algerian writer Boualem Sansal. This author was arrested in mid-November in Algiers after returning from France, after he made some controversial comments about colonization.
