Turkey’s emergency teams have managed to rescue a 17-year-old teenager this Thursday after nearly 250 hours trapped in the rubble of one of the collapsed buildings in the province of Kahramanmaras due to the earthquakes on February 6.
According to information collected by the Turkish newspaper ‘Daily Sabah’, the young woman, identified as Aleyna Olmez, has been found alive among the remains of an apartment building in the Kabayasi district. Olmez has been immediately evacuated to a hospital in the area.
Rescue teams continue to work in the area in the hope of finding more survivors, although the ten days that have passed since the earthquakes, which have left more than 36,200 dead in the country, mean that the chances of finding people alive are increasingly scarce.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), under the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, detailed this Thursday that 36,187 people have died from the earthquakes, while more than 108,000 have been injured.
On the other hand, at least 1,414 people have died in the areas of Syria controlled by the Government, to which must be added 2,274 deaths in the areas in the hands of the rebels, according to data from the Syrian Civil Defense, known as ‘white helmets’. ‘.
