The vice president of the pro-Russian “civic-military” administration of the Kajovka district, in the Ukrainian province of Kherson, Vitali Gura, died this Saturday after being the victim of what the pro-Russian authorities denounce as an attack.

The Russian vice president of Kherson, Ekaterina Gubareva, has reported Gura’s death through her account on the Telegram network, according to the official Russian news agency TASS. “The deputy chairman of the Nova Kajovka administration for Housing and Communal Services, Vitali Gura, has died from the severity of his injuries,” she explained.

Previously, it had been reported that an assassination attempt had been made against Gura in his own home and that he had received numerous bullet wounds, which is why he was in serious condition.

The Kherson region has been under Russian military control since mid-March as a result of the Russian offensive on Ukrainian territory, although “terrorist threats” to “try to destabilize the situation” continue to persist.

Meanwhile, the pro-Russian authorities in Kherson have started issuing Russian license plates and Russian driving licences, TASS reports, citing a spokesman for the Russian Traffic Bureau.
