A senior Hezbollah official says Israel is “not ready” for a new offensive in Gaza

11 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

A senior official from the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah party-militia has stated that Israel is “not capable” of launching a new offensive in the Gaza Strip and has said that the Palestinian cause “is not the sole responsibility of the Palestinians.”

“Support for the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian cause are not the sole responsibility of the Palestinians,” said Hassan al Baghdadi, a member of Hezbollah’s Central Council, who has denounced the “unjustified aggression by Zionist cowards” against faithful in the Esplanade of the Mosques.

Thus, he pointed out that the irruption last week of Israeli agents into the Al Aqsa mosque in the presence of “rioters”, during which they attacked dozens of faithful with batons, “provoked the feelings of Muslims and societies of all religions”, according to the Lebanese television channel Al Manar.

The incidents led to the launching of projectiles from the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon — an area controlled by Hezbollah — after which Israel shelled positions in both areas, without registering fatalities.

On the other hand, the leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniye, and Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, held a meeting in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, over the weekend to discuss the recent intensification of clashes with Israel during the Muslim commemoration of Ramadan.
