A Pakistani Armed Forces soldier has been killed in a shootout between troops guarding the border with Afghanistan and militiamen who fired from the Afghan side, the Pakistan Armed Forces press office reported.
The incident occurred in Hassan Jel, in North Waziristan province, when “terrorists” opened fire on a military position. The soldiers responded “adequately.” The deceased is Lance Daffadar Waqar Ali, 32, reports the Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’.
“Pakistan has repeatedly asked Afghanistan to control the border. Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for actions against Pakistan,” said the Pakistani Army, which has also expressed its “determination to eliminate the threat of terrorism” .
On September 30, another Pakistani soldier died in a shooting in Kurram. The attackers opened fire from Afghan soil and soldier Yamshed Iqbal, 27, was killed in the shooting.
