Madrid 13 (Europa Press) –
The Patriotic Front for Liberation (FPL), a group faced with the Military Board established in Niger after the coup d’etat of July 2023, has denied Wednesday that its leader, Mahmud leaves, has been released by the authorities of East Libya, where he has been detained since the end of February.
The group has come to the passage of “unfounded rumors” collected in national and international media on an alleged release of Salá, ensuring that it “is still retained in Benghazi”, a city located in eastern Libya, where it is “deprived of all freedom of movement.”
The FLN has taken the opportunity to demand the “immediate release” of the leader, who was arrested on February 23 by the self -proclaimed Libyan National Army linked to the Libyan Mariscal Jalifa Haftar, which controls the eastern part of the North African country.
In a statement published in its account of the social network Facebook, it has reaffirmed “its commitment to continue the fight against the illegitimate military regime of Niamey and for the restoration of the constitutional order.”
The FPL was created in August 2023, a month after the overthrow of the then elected president, Mohamed Bazoum, in an assonated one headed by Abdourahahamane Tchiani, current leader of the Board and transition president.
Salá said that he had raised in arms against the Military Board to claim the release of Bazoum and the restoration of constitutional legality, after which he threatened to carry out attacks against critical infrastructure of the African country, mainly those that are part of the oil sector.
