There has been talk on several occasions about screens that suffer from problems that end up causing the appearance of green lines on the screen., but usually this ends up implying that we have to change the screen completely for a new functional one. This has just changed, as we will see later.
In a video made by Strange Parts, we can see how a new repair kit using a special laser is able to repair the tracks inside an OLED panel that cause the appearance of these green lines, being a permanent repair that, in principle, it should not allow the spontaneous appearance of another green line, at least, at the same point.
As we see on these linesthe repair process is manual, slow and tedious, but it allows us to save an OLED screen that would otherwise end up in a landfill –or hopefully in a recycling center-, thus saving money in the process.
One of the most striking points is that this repair is done with the screen on, so it can potentially be done with a terminal on without even disassembling it. something that saves opening the terminal, a step that can compromise its resistance to water and its warranty.
