A new functionality to make teleworking more efficient

The rise of remote work during the pandemic and the need to be able to stay connected despite the quarantines and confinement measures that were imposed throughout the world during 2020 and 2021, led to a technological leap in terms of development and improvement of tools to communicate at a distance.

Video call platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams not only did they grow in popularity, but they also had unprecedented momentum to become virtually indispensable work tools, facilitating communication and collaboration between remote work teams.

Only in 2020, Zoom’s mobile app amassed a total of 485 million downloads, and currently 83% of platform users use it for work purposes. From 10 million daily meeting participants at the end of 2019, today Zoom has an average of 300 million daily active users.

For its part, Microsoft Teams has become the business platform par excellence: more than 500 thousand organizations worldwide use it as their default messaging platform. Teams added 95 million new users in 2020, being one of the fastest growing applications during the pandemic.

Currently, the platform has 145 million daily active users.

In the last two years, people who work remotely have become accustomed to being able to easily join any of these video conferencing services at any time. Now, as more people return to offices, workers expect the same user-friendly experience within conference rooms and physical workspaces.

The biggest challenge is being able to guarantee an equitable experience for all workers, regardless of whether they work remotely, hybrid or face-to-face.

Direct Guest Join is the new functionality of Logitech which allows you to do just that: users can join meetings via Microsoft Teams using the devices and hardware for Zoom Rooms; or to Zoom meetings using Microsoft Team Rooms on Android.

By connecting Zoom and Microsoft, Direct Guest Join brings a new level of flexibility, ease, and scalability to enterprise video collaboration. With this functionality, hybrid teams can expand their boundaries and break down barriers in communication and collaboration.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

● Enable the option of meetings with third parties in the platform settings.

● Add a Zoom Rooms or Team Room to your meeting.

● With a single touch, the Teams service will join the Zoom call, or vice versa.

Direct Guest Join is available for Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini, Logitech’s high-end all-in-one video bars for huddle rooms, running CollabOS (version 1.6.552 or higher), integrated with popular scheduling and video conferencing services. It can be enabled on Windows-based Logitech Room Systems and Logitech solutions for Teams on Android and Zoom appliance. Direct Guest Join activation can be done now via a CollabOS software update from Sync.
