A new earthquake of magnitude 6.4 shakes southeastern Turkey

A new 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook the Turkish province of Hatay on Mondayone of the most affected by the earthquakes on February 6 that left at least 41,000 dead.

The tremor, with epicenter south of the city of Antioquiatook place at 17:04 GMT, according to data from the Kandilli observatory in Istanbul, and was also felt in neighboring countries.

“It was terrible, broken windows have fallen on us. Everyone has left the shops in panic. With the darkness you still cannot see what has happened,” Ugur Sahin, a reporter for the BirGün newspaper, told EFE by telephone.

The AFAD national emergency center, which locates the epicenter of the earthquake in the Defne neighborhood in Antioquia itself, speaks of a second aftershock of magnitude 5.8 with its epicenter in Samandag.
