Nov. 19 (Portaltic/EP) –

The private browser brave has announced a new feature for iOS mobile devices that allows you to destroy “with a single touch” all the data of selected web pages generated during browsing and stored locally on the terminal.

This feature has been incorporated with version 1.71 for Apple devices, it is called Shred (translated as ‘Shred’) and offers three different modes of manual information deletion, although it can also be programmed to do so automatically.

Brave has spoken about the risks of the so-called ‘first-party-data’, That is, the tracking that websites execute during browsing sessions and that allows them to monitor the frequency with which you visit them, limit access to content and share user data with their ‘partners’.

For this reason, the company has explained on your blog which has developed a feature for iOS aimed at “quickly” deleting browsing data that sites can use to identify users across all their visits, as well as “instantly” deleting all this information with a single touch.

Shred therefore disrupts this type of tracking by allowing the user to delete site-specific data and prevent companies from creating detailed profiles or tracking their interactions with websites over time.

This means that the session will not be closed from all websites every time the browsing data is deleted and that it will not be necessary to have a list in which to indicate which websites should proceed with this deletion and in which ones. it is preferred to maintain the information generated.

The tool can be activated manually or set to automatic data destruction. To do it the first way, you must press and hold the tab grouping button, choose the Shred option in the tab grouping or select it from the section Protections (Shields).

If you want to automate the destruction, you must configure it from Protections, choose the ‘Advanced controls’ option and click on ‘Delete site data’. Thus, you can configure automatic deletion to occur when all tabs on a site are closed or when the browser is restarted.

Instead of choosing a specific website, if you want to delete all the data generated while browsing all websites, you must choose the ‘Automatic Destruction’ function in the Protection and Privacy section of the Brave Settings menu. .

Those responsible for this private browser have indicated that they are working to bring the Shred function to Android now Desktopso that the experience is homogeneous on all platforms, with the aim of offering users safe, comfortable browsing, “without ads or intrusive tracking.”
