MADRID Dec. 19 () –
A Moscow court has accepted the Prosecutor’s Office’s request to impose provisional imprisonment of one month and 30 days for the main suspects in this Tuesday’s deadly attack in Moscow against the head of Russia’s nuclear protection forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov .
The Basmanny Court of the Russian capital has decided to accept the investigation request and detain Ajmadzhon Kurbonov at least until February 17, 2025, the TASS agency reports.
Kurbonov, an Uzbek citizen, according to Russian authorities, confessed to having been recruited by the Ukrainian Government to commit the attack, which was claimed by kyiv’s special services.
Kurbonov has been accused of terrorism and possession of explosives, one of which was placed on a motorcycle parked near the entrance to the residence of Kirillov, who was with his assistant, also dead, Ilia Polikarpov.
The attack came a day after Ukraine accused Kirillov of ordering Russian forces to use chemical weapons during the war.
Russian authorities continue to work with their Uzbek counterparts and do not rule out the arrest of more suspects.
Kirillov joined the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops, a unit that he would lead in April 2017. These troops are in charge of fighting the effects of nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical weapons.
