Specifically, Al Atta stated that the next meeting of the Council will discuss whether “investigations will be opened” against the leader of the RSF, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, for high treason. “He will be removed as a member of the Council and will be put on trial,” he reiterated.
Likewise, it has urged all the political forces of the country to participate in the framework agreement signed in December. “If they can’t reach an inclusive solution, then the Army will create a two-year interim government,” he said.
The death toll from the fighting that broke out in mid-April in Sudan between the Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has risen to more than 600, according to data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO). .
The hostilities broke out on April 15 in the context of an increase in tensions around the integration of the RSF into the Armed Forces, a key part of an agreement signed in December to form a new civilian government and reactivate the transition open after the 2019 overthrow of Omar Hasan al Bashir, damaged by the October 2021 coup, in which the prime minister of unity, Abdallah Hamdok, was overthrown.
