MADRID 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least one member of the Syrian security forces has been killed in a new bombing carried out by the Israeli Army against the town of Quneitra, located in a valley in the Golan Heights, near the common border.
Security sources cited by the Syrian state news agency, SANA, have indicated that the bombing has left another agent injured, without the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) having commented for now on this attack.
Syria, which has been very critical of the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip following the attacks on October 7, 2023 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions, as well as the attacks against Lebanon, has years being subject to bombing by the Israeli Army.
In fact, at least seven people were killed on Tuesday in a new attack against a building in a residential neighborhood in Damascus, which marked one of the deadliest Israeli bombings against Syrian territory since the one carried out in April against the Iranian Consulate in the same city.
Israel generally recognizes attacks in Syria, arguing that it is acting to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases in the country and the shipment of weapons to Hezbollah – with which it has been fighting in the wake of the October 7 attacks, including a new invasion of Lebanon unleashed last week– by the Iranian authorities, who support Damascus in the context of the war that broke out in 2011.
