A Russian military court on Friday sentenced a member of the Islamic State jihadist group to 19 years in prison for preparing an attack on a court in the country’s capital, Moscow.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) has indicated that the convicted person, identified as KM Magomedov, will have to serve the sentence “in a strict correctional colony,” according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
Thus, it has stated that the defendant “maintained contacts through social networks with members of the Islamic State who were outside Russia and received remote training for the manufacture of handmade explosive devices.”
The FSB has added that the man “bought components” for the manufacture of these devices and has reported that “he was preparing to commit a terrorist attack against a court in the Moscow region.”
Finally, he has asserted that during the raid on his home, explosives, mobile phones to act as activators and plans to approach the building were found, while adding that “Magomedov’s role in the commission of these crimes has been demonstrated”. .
