A member of the elite of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Sardar Abulfazl Alijani, has died this morning while on an advisory mission in Syria, according to the Iranian news agency Mehr.
Alijani, whose death details are unknown, was part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Isfahan and was one of the military advisers operating in Syria, according to the Tasnim news agency.
The Revolutionary Guard was created shortly after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 as the elite military and ideological body of the Islamic Republic of Iran and has become one of the main military, political and economic actors inside and outside the Central Asian country. .
Iran accuses Israel of carrying out bombing raids against Iranian targets in Syria, while the Israeli Army blames the Iranian authorities for gaining positions in the Arab country to prepare an attack on its territory, with the Quds Force — which defends and furthers Iran’s strategic interests abroad–the spearhead of it.
